Thanksgiving is the best holiday. Period. Full Stop.

Image
Food, family, friends, and football. Those are the marques of the best holiday that we in America celebrate. There is no better holiday than Thanksgiving; seriously it's not even close. It is by far my favorite holiday for many reasons and I think it should be yours too. I honestly believe that it doesn't get the respect it deserves. It falls in between Halloween and Christmas, both of which are holidays that only children should truly enjoy. Just as the former ends, businesses quickly replace costumes and candy with Christmas trees and toys. We all need to slow down and enjoy the holiday that brings the least amount of stress, or at least allows you to acceptably eat yourself into a coma to forget all of your troubles. The food is plentiful on Thanksgiving Let's get the big one out of the way. Thanksgiving is built around mashed potatoes and stuffing, that alone is enough to take the top spot as best holiday. The turkey is great, as are the rolls, cranberry sauce,

Join the future, embrace The Spork.

Can you eat soup with a fork? Not easily. Can you eat a leafy green salad with a spoon? Only if you don't throw the salad across the room in a fit of rage after dropping the same piece of lettuce over and over and over again. So both the fork and spoon do things that the other struggles with. But what if we replaced them with a tool that can do both of their jobs just as well? The spork is that tool. For millennia the trio of knife, fork, and spoon have been apart of the standard place setting. But why? The obvious answer is that they all seemingly have their place. The knife is used to cut foods down into manageable sizes. The fork is used to hold down foods being cut and to bring the food to our mouths like civilized individuals. The spoon is used to stir and bring liquid foods like soup or semi solid foods like pudding to our mouths without making a mess. But let me tell you why we should embrace the spork. What is a spork? A spork is a hybrid piece of cutlery that combine

Top 10 Favorite Pies

Image
I had so much fun doing my top 10 board games and top 10 most unusual pizza toppings that I wanted to do another top 10. This one is inspired by my favorite time of year, autumn a.k.a. pie season. Sure, you can eat pie year round (and I do) but most of my pie consumption comes around thanksgiving and Christmas. There is nothing better than a slice of pie after a meal or even as your meal; pie makes a great breakfast. Whether it's served warm or cold and sweet or savory, pie is the perfect food. For the record, pizza pie will not be on this list. What you're about to find are traditional pies with a flaky or crumb crust. 10. Chicken Pot I wanted to give a shout out to all the savory pies with this one. I enjoy a pot pie from time to time, especially during the colder months. When I think about pie though, my mind goes immediately to sweet so the rest of this post is full of.....spoilers.....sweet pies. 9. Apple I know this is usually the top spot or at least i

Ketchup on hotdogs a.k.a. food faux pas are dumb

Image
Food faux pas are silly. Everyone has different tastes so who is to say that you shouldn't eat this with that? If I like the taste of ketchup on a hot dog, you bet your ass I'm going to eat it that way. There's no reason not to. I may look down on a person for ordering a well done steak but if that's what they like, more power to them. While they're at it, mind as well ask for the restaurant's finest bottle of catsup to smother that leather slab with. It all comes down to freedom, the thing that makes this country great. Eat what you want, when you want, and how you want. Hot dogs with ketchup Call me a child, a heathen, or any other name you see fit, but I really do like ketchup on hot dogs. I don't have ketchup on there every time but it's a nice change of pace once in a while. There have been many other articles written about why one shouldn't put ketchup. Many of those come out of or are about Chicago, which is famous for the tubed meat
